Music City Minute: American Idol, Luke Bryan, Lee Brice, George Strait

American Idol

Happy Birthday George Strait!

Lee Brice wrote a song in late March with some friends called "Hey World" it came after the guys found themselves inundated with a negative news cycle regarding the pandemic.
"We wrote this song from an introspective, truthful place and probably what most people are actually feeling right now," says Lee. "With everything that is happening in the world currently and how fast paced we are as a society in general, sometimes you just want everything to stop--just to appreciate what we do have. People are suffering and it can't be ignored."
Lee dropped a new video for "Hey World," which was filmed at his home in Nashville.

On last night's "American Idol" finale, Lionel Richie dusted off his old standby "We Are the World". But this time he did it Idol Style, with this season's Top 11, plus a collection of past stars including Alejandro Aranda, Fantasia Barrino, Gabby Barrett, Jordin Sparks, Katharine McPhee, Kellie Pickler, Laine Hardy, Lauren Alaina, Phillip Phillips, Ruben Studdard, and Scotty McCreery.

It was moving and magical. You will definitely get the chills!

Spoiler Alert: Just Sam is the American Idol winner she beat out Arthur Gunn! She’s a 21-year-old Subway singer from Harlem when she found out the news her grandmother was on video chat and started crying, it was so touching.

Plus Luke Bryan performed his song “One Margarita”

And don’t forget the finale of The Voice happens tonight at 7pm on NBC! Part 2 airs tomorrow night.
