MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A 13-year-old girl has been charged with reckless homicide after a 16-year-old girl was shot and killed in Memphis, Tennessee, police say.
According to WHBQ, a shooting happened Monday evening around 8 p.m. in Parkway Village in Memphis, Tennessee. When officers arrived on the scene, they found a victim, a 16-year-old girl, with a gunshot wound.
The girl was taken to the hospital in critical condition, according to WHBQ. She later died from her injuries, Memphis Police Department said.
MPD said in a tweet Thursday morning that the victim was inside a house with friends when the shooting occurred. One of the victim’s friends, a 13-year-old girl, and other juveniles were passing around a gun. The gun then fired and hit the victim.
MPD said the 13-year-old girl has been charged with reckless homicide.
No further information has been released. The victim and the suspect have both not been identified because they are juveniles.
